3/13

Ari has been doing this super annoying thing where she wakes up from her nap crankier than when she went down. It usually takes about half an hour of crying and whining before she is ready to wake up. I've contemplated not even trying to do nap time - better to have a slightly whiny evening and early bed time than a long stretch of misery when she wakes up. A few times she has woken up, fussed and cried when I picked her up and then fallen back asleep on the couch or the floor. Not as awesome as it sounds because then we have to be quiet so we don't wake her up, and then she sleeps so late that bed time is late too.

Today though....

The little cranky-pants insisted on sitting on my lap and was out four seconds later. There are things to do but it's not often that this one cuddles with me anymore, so I'll take what I can get.

Speaking of what I can get....the inability to get up, coupled with a husband who is taking care of the baby.....pretty sure that adds up to nap time for mama.

Currently

READING: No time, in between crocheting and crafting for the Heritage Faire. I was sucked into Allegiant and finished that in two days, but managed to put the new Dan Brown away before I couldn't stop.

WONDERING: why my little Eva is constipated. She is 98% still ebf so there's got to be something wrong. She just screams and screams when she's trying to go and it breaks my heart. I have cut dairy and that cuts down on the crankiness and helps her sleep at night but she had an awful awful time today trying to go so not sure what is going on.

FEELING THANKFUL: for work! Isaac is swamped right now, to the point of maybe not being able to do all his jobs. That's crazy! A year ago, he would get one job a month...and that job would last two days and pay five hundred bucks.

EATING: Entire bagfuls of dried apples. Seriously, as soon as the dryer is done, I throw the apples in a ziploc and they are gone the next day. The plain apples take a couple extra days but the ones with cinnamon and sugar....dang. As good as candy, and coming from someone who makes fun of people who say fruit is as good as candy....that's saying something.

WATCHING: nothing yet, but I'm very much appreciating the new netflix profiles. Now I can load my queue with a bunch of dumb shows like Sister Wives and 19 and Counting and Isaac won't know so he can't make fun of me!

WORKING ON: orders! The Heritage Faire was pretty much a flop compared to last year, but I had fun sharing a booth with Bethany and I have a handful of hats to make now.

LOVING: the wood stove that keeps the house a nice even 71 degrees all day long. Not too hot and not too cold. I'm NOT loving the fact that everyone selling firewood on craigslist are all flakes but that's a different story.

ATTEMPTING: to build my little business. Keeping up my Facebook page, trying to add things to my shop. I bought my domain name on Friday and got a call from a lady who wants me to give it to her tonight. Weird!

WANTING: our weekend to go smoothly. Between hosting Thanksgiving and then going to Prineville, there are a lot of potential stressors. For Eva to not be allergic to dairy. I like cheese too much to have to avoid it!

Date with my Girls

Turned a quick trip to pick up some clothes from a random stranger in a parking lot at Keizer Station into a date with my girls. Starbucks, the carousel and the park on a clear cold day made everyone happy.

For the first time, Ari played by herself at the park. She didn't need help climbing up the equipment or going down the slide. She's growing up....which makes me exactly half happy and half sad.

Who do you love?

After a semi-hard Monday morning that included whining, crying, Ari standing on top of Eva....

Ari finally calmed down and was cuddling on my lap.

"Mama loves you Ari. Do you love mama?"

Her immediate response:

"No, daddy!"

Thanks, kid.

Little shopper

Ari grew out of her red toms recently and even though she has a cute pair of suede-like boots, Isaac wanted her to have a pair of toms. So we took Ari to Nordstrom and she tried on all the shoes, picked the pink polka dot ones, and then got isaac's card to pay for them. Little did she know that we switched and hid the pink shoes for a navy blue pair, but it didn't seem to bother her when we pulled them out of the box at home.

Oktoberfest

It seems like it shouldn't be 90 degrees during Oktoberfest but I'm not complaining. It seems like it's getting harder to go out with both the girls - Ari has her own ideas of what she wants to do and Eva doesn't just sit quietly or sleep anymore. More stressful than not, but I'm glad we went. I think it's important to do things like this and expose the girls to our community.

Happy birthday to me!

Isaac let me choose what I wanted to do for my birthday. It was low- key and exactly what I needed.

Breakfast at Word of Mouth with their ridiculous hot chocolate. Ari ate all the whipped cream off the top, little thief.

Swimming and park at Silver Creek Falls, bacon cheeseburgers with corn on the cob and watermelon for dinner on the deck, and ice cream with a candle in it. Isaac's gift was exactly what I asked for - a pedicure - but he went over and above by getting a gift certificate to Bella Vita instead of the cheap chop shop I usually go to.

Mom called a few days ago to ask what I wanted for a gift. Of course I don't have anything specific in mind so I told her I like clothes, shoes, jewelry and bags. She sent me a Fossil bag and a pretty scarf that Katie picked out.

All in all, a perfect birthday with my favorite people.
